Buenos Aires
Wedding Photographer
Palermo · San Telmo · Puerto Madero · Recoleta
“Europe transplanted to South America. The most photographically cultured city in the hemisphere.”
Arman’s take
Buenos Aires is the city that surprises every photographer who visits it for the first time. The scale of the Haussmann-influenced boulevards, the density of the Belle Époque architecture in Recoleta, the coloured tin houses of La Boca, the cobblestone streets of San Telmo — it is a city of enormous visual ambition that photographs, in the right neighbourhoods, as though it was shot in Paris or Milan rather than South America. The tango culture adds a performative energy that occasionally bleeds into wedding coverage in the most extraordinary ways. I have photographed Buenos Aires weddings for culturally sophisticated couples — many of them European or North American with Argentine family connections — who want South American warmth with European aesthetic sensibility.
Light & atmosphere
Buenos Aires's wide Haussmann avenues create long sightlines for portrait work that most South American cities don't offer. The Recoleta cemetery's ornate stone mausoleums, the Palermo parks in autumn (March-May), and the Puerto Madero waterfront at blue hour all provide portrait environments with a sophistication that is not available anywhere else in the southern hemisphere.
